Dafni Kalafati

Savefrag was founded in Athens, Greece by the creative producer Dafni Kalafati in 2008.
Savefrag is committed to creating documentaries and films that matter- giving voice to vulnerable groups and shading light to unspoken themes. In order to achieve its goals Savefrag collaborates with a wide range of upcoming creative professionals from Greece and abroad who are willing to try innovative narrative tools and outreach strategies. Savefrag also organizes a range of educational activities and workshops of visual literacy for youth, because it believes in the power of the visual image as communication and as a tool for social change. Savefrag has co-produced several award winning films together with Arte, Zdf, Ert, Antena, Sky TV and currently is co-producing with Filmiki S.A the creative documentary Kastro Unbound- the sensitive portrait of a Syrian activist.
Dafni is an independent creative producer. She has studied Intercultural Education and Film and holds a Master’s Degree in Art Therapy from the Buenos Aires School of Fine Arts. She has filmed documentaries in all the 5 continents and has worked in the international market for several years as a producer. Her debut documentary film ONEIRONAUTS (2009) won the Best Experimental Documentary Award at the Toronto HotDocs Festival.
Today, she specializes together with her company Savefrag in the co-development and co-production of international projects. She has produced among others, the feature film MAYA AND SAMAR, a co-production with Serendipity Point Films Canada, the film MALDIVES by Daniel Bolda and the creative documentary SUPER PARADISE a co-production with ERT, ARTE and WDR.
She is a Berlinlale Talen campus, IDFA Academy, Esodoc and Fullbright Alumni.
